Abraham's Geneology

As I was reading through Genesis and learning of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, I was taking down a genealogy, though there's some chance its inaccurate, but I tried.

Summary..ish:

Abraham died: At 175.

Sarah died: At 127.

Ishmael died: At 137.

Isaac died: At 180.

Israel died: At 147.

Joseph died: At 110.

------------

Abraham was 86 when Ishmael was born. (Ge 16:16) He was 99 when Ishmael was 13 and he was circumsized. (Ge 17:24-27)

Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born. Sarah was 90. (Gen 21:5) This would make Ishmael 14.

Isaac's age is unknown or hard to determine at the time of Abraham's great test. (Ge 22: 1-19) The last time his age was calculable was at Isaac's weaning. (Gen 21:8)

He was old enough to carry firewood, but not to carry the fire and knife. It's unclear if he agreed to be bounds, in submission (if perhaps Abraham explained God's command to him), or was bound against his will. He was not old enough to show physical resistance or make an argument, in the latter case.

Ishmael was likely 16 when Isaac was weaned, because children in that time were not weaned until they were around 2-3 years old.

This would make Abraham 102, Sarah 92, and Ishmael 16.

Sarah died at age 127. Gen 23:1-6 (Sarah 127)

Isaac was 37. Abraham was 17. Ishmael was 51.

Isaac was 40 years old when he married Rebekah. (Ge 25:20) He prayed. Isaac was 60 when Jacob and Esau were born. (Ge 25:19-34)

Abraham lived 175 years. (Ge 25:7) Isaac was 75. Ishmael 89. Jacob and Esau were 15.

Esau married at 40. (Ge 26:34-35) Isaac was 100. Ishmael 114. Jacob was 40.

Ishmael lived to be 137. (Ge 25:17-18) Isaac was 123. Jacob and Esau were 63.

Isaac was 130 or 140? when he blessed Jacob. (There seems to be some dispute here about age.) and lived 40 more years. (Ge 35:27-29) Jacob and Esau were 70 or 80 when he blessed them.

This means Isaac may have been 144 when Jacob married Rachel. Jacob and Esau were 84.

Jacob may have been 104 when he fled Laban. He served Laban 14 years for his two daughters, and a further 7 for his flocks (Ge 31:41)

Esau's death is not recorded in scripture, and he pretty much leaves the scene.

Isaac lived to be 180. (Ge 35:28-29) This means Jacob and Esau were 120 when he died.

Joseph's story begins when he is 17.

Within this 17 year period: Rachel gave birth to two sons, the last of which was Benjamin, right before she died. Which means all the events from the time Rachel had a child to this moment, 7 chapters happened in only a 17 years period.

Ge 30:22-24

22 Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb. 23 She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, "God has taken away my disgrace." 24 She named him Joseph, and said, "May the Lord add to me another son."

Following Joseph's birth, Jacob first increased his flocks (despite Laban's schemes) (Ge 30:25-31) until Joseph was at least six years or older, since he worked for him for six years) and he left Laban.

He had an encounter with him, and then reconciled with Esau (Ge 33:12-20)

His sons then slaughtered a village after Dinah was defiled. (Ge 34)

He was instructed to head back to his land. God reminded him of His promise. (Ge 35) On the way, Rachel's nurse died and was buried.

He was renamed Israel.

Then Rachel and Isaac died. Benjamin was born.

Now we jump to when Joseph is 17. (Ge 37)

It would be difficult to tell Benjamin's age precisely, but since he wasn't conceived until Jacob left Laban, he might not have been older than 11 years old.

------------------------

Joseph is later 30 years old when he was promoted. (Ge 37:2) It had been 13 years since his dream, and Benjamin would easily be at a late teen or young adult age.

After 7 years of prosperity, that makes him 37, and another 7 years of famine makes him 44 by the end.

Benjamin would have been well into adult age by this time, possibly his 30s.

Joseph was in prison for two year prior (Ge 41:1) and had served Potiphar 11 years.

------------------------

Israel was 130 when he arrived in Egypt (Ge 47:9) with his children and grandchildren.

If the math is close, this may have been 10 years after Isaac's death.

Jacob died at age 147. (Ge 49:33) 27 years after Isaac.

This would put Joseph maybe at 56...ish..at the time of his father's death?

At the time of Jacob's death, it had been 17 years since he told his father there was five years left of famine, and Joseph was 39 or so at that time, if the math is not far off.

Joseph was 110 years old when he died. (Ge 50:26)

All glory, praise, thanks, and all things be to God on the highest forever and ever in Jesus mighty and wonderful name. P.S. I love you, and Jesus does too.
